Sclero-atrophic lichen

Ringworm (disease)

The sclero-atrophic lichen, abbreviated as LSA, is a chronic disease of the skin and mucous membranes that primarily affects the genital areas of men and women. It can occur at any age but especially after menopause. To date, the cause of this disease is unfortunately not known.

It results in vulvar pruritus (itching especially at night), the skin turns a whitish color, pearly, weakens and atrophies over time (eg deletion of the lips, loss of the clitoris, etc..). Lichen can be localized or extend to areas perineal and perianal. Sex in becoming altered because of pain during and after the act (cracking of the skin, bleeding).

The only existing treatments are creams with high dosage of cortisone and men circumcision can be beneficial. A lichen or poorly treated can, in some cases develop into cancer. Lichen can be treated but with a long-term treatment, one year after the case.
